On the 25th of October, the research team at ciTechCare received a visit from one of our international collaborators Dr. Alfonso Benítez-Páez. In a scientific meeting entitled “Science Swing”, organized by the research center, Dr. Benítez-Páez gave a talk about advanced methods to study complex microbial communities for clinical applications. He stressed the importance of achieving species and strain-level resolution when analyzing microbial communities by giving examples of his research studies. He also talked about how other variables, for instance, those related to the subject’s health and lifestyle, but also the time of sample collection, affect the microbiota analysis and must be considered when designing a new study.
His talk was preceded by the presentation of the project by Ana Roque, one of our junior research team members. We were able to share our project with the center’s research community and strength our international relationships.
